Body Styles, Trim Levels and Options

Created by the Fiat Style Centre, the new 500 is a small 3-door car. It is 139 inches long, 64 inches wide, 58 inches high, and has a wheelbase of 91 inches. You could even describe it as a cute, playful compact with soft rounded body lines. Don’t be fooled by its small dimensions. The 2011 Fiat 500 is big on style, fuel economy and maneuverability.

The entry level trim level is ‘Pop’, which includes Air-Conditioning, trip computer, front electric windows, remote central locking, front and rear head rests, height adjustable steering wheel, split-fold rear seat, ABS brakes and six-speaker MP3 audio system with steering wheel controls.

The Sport model adds 15-inch alloy wheels, ‘Blue&Me’ Telematics with USB connection, rear spoiler, leather steering wheel and gear knob, side skirts and red brake calipers. Over the Pop version, the Lounge gains 15-inch alloys, satin finish aluminum exterior mirrors, chrome trim pack, climate control AirCon and a fixed glass sunroof.

The comprehensive options list includes leather trim, 16-inch alloy wheels, decal options, sunroof on Sport and Pop versions, luxury and chrome packs, as well as dealer-fit options that enable owners to further personalize their Fiat 500.

All models will feature ABS, air conditioning, power windows, locks and steering, as well as a six speaker MP3-capable audio system and seven airbags – a record for this vehicle class.

Performance

The Fiat 500 will be equipped with the DDCT Dual Dry Clutch Transmission. The DDCT transmission going into the Fiat 500 is a new 7 speed design specially created for smaller cars. The advantages of the DDCT transmission is it combines the shifting convenience of an automatic transmission with even greater operating efficiency than a manual transmission. When you want to relax, you can drive it as an automatic, or when that sporting feeling hits, shift it manually. It delivers a superior sporty feel compared to electrically-actuated manual (MTA) gearboxes because of the greater gear shift speed and a near-zero power loss during gear changes.

The ferocious 1.4-litre model features ESP and ASR (Anti Slip Regulation) as standard to keep all those horses in check, plus a Hill Holder, to help the driver on hill starts, and HBA (Hydraulic Brake Assistance) which steps in for emergency stops.

Despite the high equipment levels, the Fiat 500 will start at a recommended retail price of $22,990 at our Seattle Fiat dealership – a small price to pay for the 2008 European Car of the Year.

Exterior

The front combines the family feeling of the most recent Fiat models, with the distinctive elements of the first 500. For instance, you’ll notice features like the round upper headlights above and main beam lights below, as well as the familiar whiskers and logo.On the side, the mid-line slopes slightly at the front giving the car an impression of sturdiness.

While the rear features a distinctive chrome handle reminiscent of the number plate light holder found on the original model, and similar in shape to that of a bicycle saddle.

To complete the look, there’s a choice of 12 body colors available – pastel, metallic and a pearl finish – all perfectly matching the wide range of interior fabrics and leathers.

And not forgetting the various options for customization: from stickers to alloy wheels, badges to style details, elegance and comfort.

Interior

On the inside, the 500 offers a welcoming, protective environment for both the driver and passengers. This is largely due to the large ring bordering the entire inner space, the great attention to detail, quality materials used, and instruments that aren’t just beautiful to look at, but are also easy to use.

Chrome elements, two-tone seats, and a dashboard that perfectly matches the body color combine with handy storage compartments and small details, like a fragrance dispenser, to create an environment that is both elegant and functional. And one that can comfortably accommodate four people.
